THE CELLAR

It was founded in the early 1900s by Angelo Virgili, a descendant of Luigi, who saw in the vineyard a valid alternative to animal husbandry rooted in the area. So it was that they started the first vine planting in the bottom called “IL SERRAGLIO”.
In the early 1900s they acquired the “Montaldo” company located north of Mantua on the morainic hills that act as a natural dam formed during the glaciations on Lake Garda. In Mantua, the geographical and economic center of the province is the transformation cellar. Cantina Virgili is developing a very ambitious and dynamic export program in various countries, and especially in the United States and Europe.

Since the last two decades of the last century, the Virgili family boasts knowledge in the field of viticulture: Luigi Virgili (grandfather of the current owner of the same name) was the tenant of the marquis Benedetto Sordi at the Argona di San Giacomo delle Segnate, where he produced wine. Later with his son Angelo he moved to the Varana di Quistello and the second generation cultivated and vinified in Bondanello before moving to Mantua, where Angelo passed the baton to his son Luigi.
The latter is now supported by the third generation of the Cantine Virgili, namely by their sons Andrea and Paolo.

The history of Prosecco Valdo began in 1926, when a group of enterprising entrepreneurs from Valdobbiadene decided to join together by creating the Società Anonima Vini Superiori: a company mainly dedicated to the sparkling wine production of Valdobbiadene Prosecco Superiore and Cartizze.

The great leap in quality occurred in the early 1940s, when the company was bought by the Bolla family, which would change its name to Valdo Spumanti only later in 1951.

Sergio Bolla, father of the current President Pierluigi, focused on expanding sales both in Italy and in foreign markets, set new commercial and production objectives with the ambition of making Prosecco Valdo known, or rather Valdobbiadene Prosecco Superiore DOCG to all the world.
Since then, Valdo has valued the culture of excellence, taste and know-how, determined by work and man’s untiring passion.

It is from this passion that sparkling Garda is born, in which the wine-growing vocation of the area is combined with the mastery and the sparkling tradition of Valdo.

A project that represents the opportunity to unify the territorial image with the symbolic values ​​of Lake Garda: nature, fun, conviviality, lifestyle, culture and beauty.

History
Year 1877
The grandfather Giovanbattista was born, who took over the Rizzi farm on the sunny hills of the Valdadige, in Trentino, at the beginning of the twentieth century, transforming traditional mixed crops into charming vineyards.

Year 1945
The sons Remo, Renzo and Rino acquire the company together with the great wealth of experience and knowledge in the wine and wine field. In the first post-war period they rebuilt the Maso Bianco winery, immersed in the vineyards of the company, after the destruction occurred in the war.

1960
The desire to undertake pushes Remo to buy a fund immediately screwed and named Ca ‘dei Dossi in Bovolone, in the nearby province of Verona, the current headquarters of the winemaking cellar and logistics center.

Today
Luigino and Claudio, Remo’s sons, are the present conductors of the F.lli Rizzi farm which operates under the “Seiterre” brand. The continuous research, the desire to obtain ever higher quality wines and the results obtained have pushed the Rizzi brothers towards new and ambitious challenges, which have thus materialized with the acquisition and planting of new estates in some of the most important regions for the production of quality wines. Seiterre can now count on about 350 hectares of property, planted with vines in the best areas: from Piedmont in the Montebello estate to Friuli with Podere del Gal, from Trentino with Maso Bianco to Tuscany with Podere Sassoscritto and Poggio Le Capannelle including the prestigious lands of Valpolicella in the vineyards of Ca ‘del Lupo up to the sunny hills at the foot of Lake Garda with Tenuta Fantona and Tenuta San Leone.
Finally there is Ca ‘Dei Dossi, the largest estate, as well as registered office, which you can find in the Veronese area.

History
The farm “La Prendina” has recent history in the wine sector, was acquired in 1958 and the cultivation of the vine, after profound changes to the hydrogeological structure, was started by taking advantage of the experiences gained in Custoza by the owners.
Much older are the first traces of the existence of Prendina as a farm.
The cartography at the time of the Gonzaga, Lords of Mantua, reports the existence of the Prendina, more recent verbal testimonies handed down the presence of a church and a tower, historically called “dovecote”, a typical three-storey square-based construction, the which is part of the current buildings and is currently depicted in the company logo.
Initially the wines were marketed under the Cavalchina brand, the first wine to bear the name of Prendina was a Merlot bottled in 1980 for Gualtiero Marchesi; even today Merlot is the grape that gives the best results.
However, we must wait until 1990 to see La Prendina born as a completely independent brand.
The success of Prendina relied precisely on the Bordeaux vines and the “Vigneto del Falcone” was the company’s flagship wine in the guides, competitions and tastings.

Philosophy
The corporate philosophy can be summed up in one word: respect.
The attitude tending to the minimum environmental impact, the processes that aim to enhance the concentrations without altering, but highlighting the peculiar characteristics of the cultivars, the cellar work that follows rather than imposing evolution are the inspiring lines of our wines.

Perla del Garda is the brand of our wines produced exclusively with grapes from our km0 chain.
We do not buy grapes or wine from other colleagues, we are a farm that exclusively processes its raw materials.

Perla del Garda is the only winery in the area to have introduced fall winemaking, inspired by the processing of grapes and must by gravity without the use of pumps until the end of the fermentation process.

Perla del Garda has achieved the MAKE IT SUSTAINABLE certification, becoming the first Sustainable Lugana and participates in the VIVA SUSTAINABLE WINE program of the Ministry of Agriculture.

The cellar is modern and innovative, designed and built to respect the environment.
There are three work plans and coincide with the main processing phases: the arrival of the grapes with the selection of the bunches, the vinification at controlled temperature, the aging in barrels and the aging in the bottle.

We promote educational visits for schools and experiential visits for consumers and operators in the horeca sector with a new and innovative booking system from the website www.perladelgarda.it: the tastings are accompanied by jams, cheeses and cured meats from the area supplied exclusively by members of the Strada dei Vini e dei Sapori del Garda, farms and non-industrial products, accompanied by artisan bakery products at Km0.

Located in Monzambano in the heart of the moraine hills
del Garda, the ideal area for wine production, the Gozzi Winery is the story of a family that has been cultivating the land for generations and transforming its fruits with love and passion. It is the result of the constant search for the highest quality, obtained through the wise alliance between the knowledge handed down in almost a century of activity and the new scientific and technological discoveries, with the utmost respect for the environment and therefore for man.

The company was founded in 1920 by the brothers Cesare and Bortolo Gozzi, after years of agricultural work in a farm in the village under a sharecropping contract.
Until 1985, the production of wine is flanked by cattle breeding, silkworm and cereal cultivation.

However, the great success of the wine produced pushes the brothers Cesare and Franco (grandchildren of the founders Cesare and Bortolo and current owners) to concentrate all efforts and investments in viticulture, with the installation of new vineyards and the creation of a winery all ‘vanguard.
The commitment is directed to the production of DOC Garda and DOC Garda Colli Mantovani wines, a small DOC that combines the typicality of native vines such as Rondinella, Rossanella and Garganega, to the internationality of Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon and Chardonnay.

Thanks to a very precise and meticulous work, our wines are able to express all the strength and elegance that the terroir of the moraine hills of Garda conveys to them. The result is wines with a short aging in steel and “crus” with a long evolution in oak barrels: Saline, Magrini, Colombara and Le Falme are the names of small vineyards where the particular relationship between grape variety, climate and soil enhances the flavors, the perfumes and colors that this land can give.
To highlight the sparkling wines: two extra dry wines – of which a rosé – and a brut classic method from Pinot Noir and Chardonnay, which with a careful selection of the grapes and a permanence on the lees for at least 5 years, acquires organoleptic characteristics of great value.
Today, after almost a hundred years, we keep our goal as always: to enhance the environment of the morainic hills of Garda and its millennial relationship with man.

Vitevis Cantine Società Cooperativa Agricola was formally born on 1st July 2015 from the union of 3 Social Wineries of the Province of Vicenza, Cantina di Gambellara (founded in 1947), Cantina Colli Vicentini of Montecchio Maggiore Maggiore (founded in 1955) and the Cantina Val Leogra di Malo (founded in 1961).

Growing in the value of cooperation, these three realities feel the need to create a single winery with the aim of effectively penetrating international markets and systematising their respective points of excellence, optimizing costs and investments, enhancing wines products for the benefit of all members and of the territory in general.
